Miss Luken here! Don't forget tomorrow night at Open House I'll be set up outside my room with calendars, yearbooks, and even scrapbooks!
Yearbooks from the 2023-2024 school can be picked up and/or purchased for $40! You can also preorder a yearbook for the 2024-2025 school year for $30.
The scrapbooks are ones that still need to be picked up but can also put your name in for this year.
And the calendars are $15!
The calendars are back! Thank to Miss Luken, the yearbook staff has another calendar to sell that includes photos from last year (including the Photo of the Year and a couple of Miss Luken's favorites), sports, activities, etc.! They will be for sale at Open House next week from 5p-8p and are $15!

-JH & HS books can be picked up and purchased outside Miss Luken's room (107). Books for the new year can be preordered for $30
Coach Mickunas took a bunch of kids to the Chiefs training camp today for their hard work and attendance in summer workouts. They had a great day and a great summer in the weight room. Keep up the good work
Summer school kiddos went on a trip to Union Station today to visit 100 years of Disney and they had a great time
Booster club meeting Aug 12th 5 pm in the High School Library. Anyone who would like to be a member is welcome to attend.

Here's the info for the Summer Weights rewards trip THIS Friday! Again, this is only for those students who met the attendance requirement and have been notified by Coach Mickunas. Congrats and have fun!
Junior High and High School Cross Country, Football, and Volleyball practices start on Monday August 19th. Make sure that you have your physical forms turned into the high school office on or before the start date. Anyone who has not turned in their physical will not be allowed to practice.

KSHSAA Summer Moratorium will start July 1st and run until July 7th. During the moratorium there will be no open gyms, no weightroom, and no practices. This is a week free from athletics. Enjoy the time off and have a great 4th of July.
The High School Basketball tournament scheduled for this Saturday in Uniontown has been canceled due to low numbers for all teams involved.
No High School Boys Basketball Practice next week June 24th-28th due to Football Camp. Tournament is still on though. I will post tournament details as soon as we get them. Also remember that the gyms are off limits throughout July .

1A-3A Basketball Postseason Format Changes effective this season
Format
· Split state into four regions of 16 (13-14 for 1A-D1 and 1A-DII).
· Each region has two tournaments.
* Sub-State 1: 1-4-5-8-9-12-13-16
* Sub-State 2: 2-3-6-7-10-11-14-15
· The winner of each sub-state qualifies for the state tournament.
* Sub-State finals played on different nights (boys/girls)
· Friday, March 7, Saturday, March 8
* There will be two teams from each region advancing to state
· First round (quarterfinals) is played at higher seed. 1A quarterfinals Feb. 24-25, 2A-3A quarterfinals Feb 27-28.
· Second round (semifinals) is played at higher seed. 1A semifinals Mar 1 and 3, 2A-3A semifinals Mar 4-5.
· Third round (finals) are played at a predetermined site which will be announced around December 1, similar to sub-state hosts are currently announced.
· Assign a seeding manager to each region – similar to a sub-state manager now – these are critical for success
* Seeding manager will seed region in two brackets 1-16, assign game officials based on pool KSHSAA provides for first two rounds in timely manner, post scores to KSHSAA website, communicate with region and KSHSAA, assist KSHSAA with weather/etc. issues, duties as assigned regarding their region
· Due to cooperative agreements, there may be instances where a region will have more than 16 teams. Only the top 16 in each region will be placed in a sub-state bracket.
· Seeding dates: 1A Feb 19, 2025; 2A-3A Feb 22, 2025
No morning weights for JH or HS from June 20th - July 7th due to Football camp and Summer Moratorium. Weights will start again on July 8th.
The gyms will also be off limits throughout the month of July as they are being resurfaced.
Marmaton Valley Junior and Senior High Football camp is next week! The camp is from 7-9 am for all current Marmaton Valley students grades 7-12.
